Thoughts

My initial impressions of this scene are the play with light and shadows, and the burst of white that draws me in. It have a very classy feel and rather than spontaneous is intended to be thought provoking.

I am a fan of images that have dark tones because I feel they tend deliver a strong feeling of emotion. Exception images attempt to tell a story and allow the viewer to complete that story in his or her mind. I think this image is wonderful on all of those counts.

I think the light set up here, coming from above works very well. It brings attention to the empty chair and provides these awesome highlights to the shoulders and arms of the subject. As well as providing just enough light to her face to show her beauty, yet maintaining a little mystery. Finally the lighting cast on the wall provides a wonderful background that highlights and returns focus to the subject.

I love the contrast of the white smoke with the rest of the scene. It adds elegance and the fact she's blowing it out in a quick stream adds to the "thought" theme a sense of both concentration and dreaming.

The model is beautiful and the pose totally works as she appears to model the position and shape of the chair. Again the fact the chair is empty seems to suggest her thoughts are for someone distant or missing from her life, yet someone she feels strong emotion for.
